Frequently Asked Questions

Having sash windows restored compared to the alternatives offers many advantages. It allows you to retain the character of your home or building, and is often less expensive than full replacement – all while maintaining the original look and feel.

Sash window restoration falls under permitted development, categorised as basic maintenance. If your property is listed, planning permission is often required. Properties in conservation areas may also need permission, though this generally isn’t the case in the Southwell/Newark conservation area. We’re experienced in working within council guidelines and happy to advise.

If original windows are in relatively good condition, it’s fair to expect an overhaul and draught proof to cost in the region of £800 per window. In some cases external repairs are required such as sills or a new replacement sash that’s rotted away which can add to the cost.

We serve the East Midlands and South Yorkshire with our full range of services, regularly carrying out work across Retford, Nottingham, Derby, and beyond.

If you’re planning a project and want windows that look beautiful, last for decades, and meet modern regulations, we’d be happy to help. Get in touch to request a site visit, discuss your plans, or ask a question.
